These external oil pools (Kati = lumbar spine, Basti = bladder, slightly retained for a long time) are often used in the area of the spine (Katibasti). It can also be applied over the heart (Hrud Basti) or the eyes (Netra Basti) as required.
A dough ring is kneaded from chickpea flour and medicated oil and, for example, formed into a tub on the back at the painful point and pressed firmly. This tub is filled with warm oil and kept warm, which allows the soothing oils to penetrate into the deepest structures and develop their miraculous effectiveness.
Oils with particularly restorative and dissolving properties are used for the Kati Basti application.
